Go To Jail

I'm beginning to suspect that the reason the Democrats inside the Washington Beltway were so upset with Hillary Clinton's 2016 loss to Donald Trump may have had less to do with Trump and a whole lot to do with the danger that (without Hillary as President) a series of serious scandals would come to light. Those scandals go to the very heart of undue and unwarranted political influence on supposedly non-partisan government agencies, and reinforce the notion that the Obama administration and its Democrat protectors (along with its media flunkies) were complicit in actions that really were (to use a phrase they love to use) "a threat to our democracy."

In what can only be characterized as hubris and psychological projection, the Democrats decided to accuse Trump of Russian "collusion" and "obstruction of justice." With no evidence to support those allegations, it appears that they used senior officials in the FBI and intelligence agencies to offer up leaks to the trained hamsters in the main stream media—all intended to defeat Trump before the election and then to bring him down after he won.

Instead, an investigation by the Inspector General of the FBI indicates that the Dems have inadvertently opened a pandora's box of evidence that indicates: (1) the Obama administration's DoJ worked to quash two different criminal investigations of Hillary Clinton during the run-up to the presidential campaign; (2) senior executives in the FBI and intelligence agencies were politicized; (3) a Democratic sponsored opposition research "dossier" was used as "evidence" to convince a FISA court to approve spying on Trump campaign operatives; (4) the Obama DoJ looked the other way as purposeful leaks (by James Comey, et al) lead to the appointment of a special counsel who after a year of "investigations" has yet to find a single piece of evidence to connect Trump to Russian collusion and/or obstruction of Justice.
Charles Lipson comments:
Here’s what the [FBI] inspector general report says:
[FBI Assistant Director, Andrew] McCabe told the OIG that on August 12, 2016, he received a telephone call from Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General regarding the FBI’s handling of the Clinton Foundation. McCabe said that the PADAG expressed concerns about FBI agents taking overt steps in the Clinton Foundation investigation during the presidential campaign. According to McCabe, he pushed back, asking “are you telling me that I need to shut down a validly predicated investigation?” McCabe told us that the conversation was “very dramatic” and he never had a similar confrontation like [that] call with a high-level Department official in his entire FBI career.
The 35-page report goes on to say that, by leaking that conversation, McCabe was trying “to make himself look good by making senior department leadership, specifically the Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General, look bad,” Well, yeah.

The same logic should apply to the misappropriated, classified memos James Comey leaked through his friend at Columbia Law School. Comey has said they were meant to force the appointment of a special counsel.

Those leaks do make senior law-enforcement leaders look bad. Actually, they make them look politically corrupt. The Horowitz report does not dispute that the DOJ call to McCabe took place or that it was meant to quash a legitimate FBI investigation of the Clinton Foundation. If that is confirmed, it is a perversion of the Justice Department and its core function of unbiased application of the law.

We need to know if McCabe is telling the truth about direct political pressure to help the Clintons. If he is, we need to know who told the DOJ official to make that call. That explanation needs to be under oath before a grand jury, since it smells a lot like obstruction of justice and may involve his bosses. All of them are high-level political appointees.
Of course, the trained hamsters in the MSM yawn and look the other way, the Dems obfuscate, and the DNC produces a lawsuit that even Democratic partisans think is ridiculous.

During its tenure, the Obama administration weaponized the IRS against its opponents. Nothing happened, no one went to jail. Feeling bulletproof, the same administration weaponized the FBI against its political opponents. Despite the trained hamsters best efforts to cover it all up and the Dems attempts at misdirection and obfuscation, something is beginning to happen, and folks just might go to jail.
